It is available in wide ranges of configuration like minivan and minibus, pickup, taxi and ambulance This car is manufacturing from 5 generations: In first generation, it was introduced on 1967 and it was used as cab over pick up and delivery van. it is known as hiace commercial. When these are being used as public transport vehicle it was exported to Africa.
In second generation, it was introduced in 1977 and with petro engine, 2.2 ltr of diesel engine was offered
In third generation, it was introduced in 1982. In fourth generation, it was introduced in 1989
In fifth generation, it was introduced in 2005 which is presently used.it has long wheelbase wagon, grand cabin. All models uses 4 cylinder DOHC engine with engine specification 2TR-FE 2700 cc petrol engine or 1KD- FTV 3000 cc D- 4D turbo diesel engine. 2.5 and 3 ltrs diesel engine can have maximum output of up to 75 kwh at 3600 rpm and 80 kwh at 3000 rpm with peak torque of 260 Nm at1600 to 2400 rpm and 286 Nm at 1200 to 1600 rpm.petrol engine has 2.7 ltr.
